ABOUT ----- This is an open-source archive of cross-stitch typefaces and symbols. Each glyph is stored in a lossless PBM (Portable Bitmap) binary format and can be toggled into a visual pixel representation. Glyphs are also available as SVGs for use in digital or design projects.
SOURCE INFORMATION ------------------ All of the designs in this archive are over 100 years old and may be used or adapted in your own projects, provided they are not resold as original work. I’ve gathered these glyphs from historical samplers and manuals, and digitized them using Glyphs and Python. Cross-stitch typefaces and motifs were traditionally passed down through manuals or taught from one embroiderer to another. As a result, it is often difficult to pinpoint the exact origin of a particular design. Many of the typefaces included here were taken from samplers stitched by individual girls, and in many cases the original source cannot be traced. By tagging each glyph with the name of its recorder where known, I hope to honor their labor and preserve their role in this tradition. Example samplers: -> Giorni Lieti's Sampler -> Mary Morse's Sampler Other glyphs are drawn from historical manuals, many of which are available online via the Antique Pattern Library. In these cases, they are tagged with the name of their designer or distributor. -> Antique Pattern Library

EXAMPLES: - giorni -> shows all tagged 'giorni' - letter and a -> all glyphs that are letters and 'a' - not number -> hides numbers - keuhn or simart -> shows either ADVANCED: - Use AND, OR, NOT logic - Use parentheses: (flower or border) and simart To reset, clear the search and press Enter.
